Packing pots so they live

Pots are strong in use and fragile in a truck. Most of our packing rules came from the handful of early orders that arrived in pieces, and breakage is rare now. Here is how every box leaves the studio.

Each piece is wrapped in recycled paper, several layers thick. Mugs and bowls get paper stuffed inside too, because a hollow pot is weakest when it can flex. Handles get an extra wrap, since they are the part most likely to snap.

Then it goes in a box inside a box. The inner box holds the pot snugly with at least two inches of crumpled paper on every side. The outer double-walled box has two more inches around the inner one. If a carrier drops the package, the outer box takes the hit and the inner box barely moves.

Before taping, we do a shake test. If we can hear or feel anything shift, the box gets opened and repacked. Then it is sealed, labeled fragile, and handed off within three business days.

If something still arrives damaged, don't throw it away yet. Take a photo of the piece and the box and send it to us. A replacement goes into the next run at no cost, and shipping on the replacement is on us. You don't need to mail back the broken one.
